چکیده

The design of medium access control (MAC) protocols has traditionally been separated from that of the physical layer. To a MAC protocol designer, the physical layer is a black box satisfying the so-called collision model: when only one user transmits, the packet arrives at the receiving node error-free. But when transmissions are simultaneous, packets are lost due to collision. Until recently, the theory of random access was based on such an idealized model, and random access protocols were viewed as collision resolution or collision avoidance techniques.

Smart Random Channel Access in OFDM Systems by Joint Signal Processing and Packet Scheduling

Wireless LAN and many other wireless communication systems have applied OFDM to mitigate multipath. Considering that the requirement of random access may reduce performance due to contentions, in this paper we show that OFDM techniques can assist random access contention resolution. A method is proposed with both OFDMbased physical layer signal processing and MAC layer packet scheduling. It is ...

Smart contention resolution in random access wireless networks with unknown multiple users: a joint layer design approach

Traditional methods for resolving random access contentions usually work in the MAC layer only without considering the rich information of the physical layer signal. Most of them suffer from low efficiency and lack of priority scheduling capability. This paper shows that advanced signal processing techniques can be used for complete contention resolution, i.e., packet collisions can be either a...

A Signal Processing Approach to Estimate Underwater Network Cardinalities with Lower Complexity

An inspection of signal processing approach in order to estimate underwater network cardinalities is conducted in this research. A matter of key prominence for underwater network is its cardinality estimation as the number of active cardinalities varies several times due to numerous natural and artificial reasons due to harsh underwater circumstances. So, a proper estimation technique is mandat...
